I Can Tell

By: Taylor Casale

Justin had just gotten home from tour and couldn’t wait to see his girlfriend.

He opened the door and walked in.

            “Hello,” He yelled, “Anyone home?”

He heard scurrying upstairs and then he looked up.

             “Justin?” She screamed excitedly.

She tied her robe while running down the stairs.

            She jumped into his arms.

He laughed and held her close.

“I missed you so much baby.” He whispered as he stroked her hair.

“I missed you too.” Angel whispered.

“You go get dressed and we’ll catch a movie aright?” He asked.

She nodded and jogged up the stairs.

“So did you like the movie?” He asked as he put his arm around her.

“It was pretty good.” She said and flashed a quick smile.

God she’s beautiful, he thought, She’s my world.

They got in the car and headed for home.

“Are you alright?” he asked and looked over at her quickly.

“Of course, She laughed, “Why you ask?”

“You just seem distant, that’s all.” He said and sighed.

It's in the way you caress my face
Like you always used to but differently
We can smile to hide the shame
Here in the pouring rain waiting for the sun
I'm crying here all alone standing next to you
You have done your best to see it through

They walked in the house holding hands.

For some odd reason Justin felt different.

She looked at him and flashed the same amazing smile that had won him over.

She changed. She was different, and he knew it.

But oh baby
I can tell by the way that you love
I can tell that the fire is burning out
Oh baby, I can tell by the way that you hold me
I can tell but the fire is burning out

He woke up the next morning and turned to Angel’s side of the bed.

He looked confused.

“Angel,” He yelled, “Where are you?”

“Downstairs.” She yelled back.

He got dressed and walked downstairs.

He smelt the fresh scent of her perfume as he walked into the kitchen.

He came up behind her and kissed her cheek.

She smiled but there was something different about that smile. It didn’t sparkle.

Moving down an open road asking our hearts for direction
Cause we're so close
I can see the faded signs leading to the same destinations
But you're not there
We're dancing to the music that ended long ago
You've done everything that you can do

“Justin,” Angel sighed, “We need to talk.”

He sat down and waited.

“This just isn’t working,” Angel whispered, “I can’t pretend I’m still in love with you.”

Justin’s mouth dropped open.

“Pretend,” He  yelled, ”You’ve been pretending to be in love with me?”

Her eyes welled up with tears as she nodded her head.

He sat there.

She could see his jaw muscles tense.

“I love you still,” She started, “But I’m not IN love with you.”

He looked at her with hurt filled eyes.

“I don’t believe you,” He whispered, “I don’t believe anything you say anymore.”

He went upstairs and packed her bags.

She looked at him.

“Take your shit  and get out.” He whispered through clenched teeth.

Angel’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Justin I have nowhere to go.” She said panic stricken.

“Go to your mom’s house,” He said calmly, “I don’t want you here.”

Oh I Oh I Oh I Oh I Oh I
My heart is in the wind drifting over you
I've done everything that I can do

She grabbed her bags from him and walked down the stairs.

She opened the door and stopped to look up at him.

“I loved you Angel,” He whispered, “Take care of yourself.”

She nodded and left.

He wiped his eyes.

It was his first time going out since Angel had left.

He was talking with girls left and right, but none of them caught his attention.

Then a girl walked up and asked him if she could sit next to him.

He nodded and she sat down.

They talked and got to know each other really well.

They exchanged numbers and e-mails.

There was something about her that he instantly loved.

It was her clear crystal blue eyes.

He wished that whatever they had would last.

THE END!
